Standard Reporting Package (SRP)
The customer
Nation's largest publicly traded health care companies serving the needs of 15.5 million medical members across California, Georgia, Missouri, Wisconsin and approximately 46 million specialty members nationwide. Its included in the S&P 500® Index.
The challenge
:
- Enhancements to the existing Standard Reporting Package (SRP) and Custom Reporting Package (CRP) reports.
- SRP and CRP reports of Well point ran on the VLDB (very large databases), these reports took hours if not days to ran.
- Since data volume was very large, the reports took days to execute and show up results.
- WellPoint wanted a system to be in place to improve the performance of these Reports.
- The main focus of the system was to optimize and to run these reports faster.
The Solution
OTSI took up the challenging work to fune-tune these reports. We were able to improve the performance terrifically by implementing the advance concepts of Oracle 9i for tuning by introducing Global Temporary Table Concept. Previously the Reports that took days to complete, now take only few hours.
